Are you feeling lost or overwhelmed? Do you find that each day presents new challenges?
Navigating through life's difficulties can be a complex journey, and sometimes all it takes is the guidance of someone who truly understands and listens. I am a qualified integrative counsellor dedicated to supporting you on your path of self-discovery and healing.
Becoming a counselor has allowed me to support others through some of the most challenging and transformative moments of their lives. I chose this path because I am deeply committed to fostering emotional growth, resilience, and self-awareness in others. Witnessing clients’ journeys and helping them uncover their own strengths and insights is profoundly fulfilling. As a counselor, I am able to provide a safe, compassionate space where people can explore difficult emotions, discover new perspectives, and make meaningful changes. Each client brings a unique story and set of experiences, which enriches my practice and continually inspires me to grow as a professional. I find purpose in helping others navigate their personal journeys toward mental health and well-being.
Having faced my own struggles with anxiety, depression, and trauma, I believe I can provide a safe environment for you to explore your emotions and feelings. I recognize that seeking therapy can feel intimidating, so I commend you for taking this important step. It is a significant achievement, and many individuals find it challenging to acknowledge their need for support.
Through a combination of psychodynamic and humanistic approaches, we will examine both your past experiences and present circumstances, as well as how these elements may be influencing your current life. The therapy sessions will be centered around you, and together we will navigate the direction you wish to take.
I relocated to the United Kingdom at the age of three with my parents. Growing up in a Pakistani cultural background has greatly influenced my development while living in the UK. My upbringing in the bustling environment of London led to challenges with anxiety and depression throughout my teenage years and early twenties. To address these issues, I pursued counseling, which significantly helped me manage my symptoms.
In my early twenties, I married and brought my ex-husband to the UK. During my marriage, I welcomed my wonderful son, who became a source of strength during a difficult period marked by domestic violence. When my son turned four, I made the decision to leave my husband. This transition was challenging and led to a resurgence of my depression and anxiety, ultimately resulting in hospitalization and medication to aid in my recovery.
I believe these experiences have shaped my approach as a counsellor. My personal understanding of anxiety, depression, and domestic abuse enables me to connect with clients facing similar circumstances. I recognize that sometimes all an individual needs is someone who will listen and provide a space where they feel heard, which is the essence of effective therapy. I believe that certain experiences can only be truly understood through personal experience. This perspective enables me to bring a unique approach, allowing me to connect with clients on a deeper level. In addition to these valuable experiences, I have worked in low-cost and NHS counseling settings, where I developed essential skills as a counselor. This exposure to both long-term and short-term therapy has equipped me with the expertise to effectively work in either context.
